IS THERE ANY PAIN AFTER EGG COLLECTION?

Egg collection in Turkey hospitals process (Oocyte Pickup-OPU) is the emptying of fluid-filled structures containing eggs and called follicles by inserting a needle into the ovary accompanied by vaginal ultrasound. Before egg collection, injections recommended by the Turkey doctor are performed regularly for 11 days so that healthy eggs can be formed in a controlled manner.

When follicles that have reached a certain size are obtained by stimulation of the ovary, a cracking needle is made and egg collection is performed after 34-36 hours. Egg collection is always accompanied by vaginal ultrasonography. While the patient lies in the position of gynecological examination, it is covered with sterile covers and after speculum application, vaginal area cleaning is applied. OPU can be performed with local or general anesthesia.

In women whose ovaries are close to the vaginal ultrasound probe and are not Mobile, the procedure can be performed painlessly with local anesthesia. In women whose ovaries are far away or behind the uterus, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

Eggs do not come out of every follicle. In general, 70% of follicles have eggs in them. A few hours after the eggs are collected, the cells around them are cleaned and evaluated whether they are mature.

Eggs that are mature are fertilized. Egg collection takes about 15-20 minutes. After the egg is rested for 1-2 hours after the total process, it can be easily returned to daily life.
