5 WAYS TO AVOID DRY EYES THAT CAN LEAD TO VISION LOSS IF LEFT UNTREATED
.
In winter, the most common eye problem in windy weather is dry eyes. Dry and cold air, wind and air pollution, as well as factors such as reduced humidity in the eyes due to ventilation in closed environments where we spend a long time, negatively affect eye health. Turkey eye hospital and diseases clinic specialist warns that this eye disease, which reduces the quality of life due to burning in the eyes, stinging, sand sensation, redness and blurred vision, can cause serious problems that can lead to vision loss when late.

WHY DOES THE AMOUNT OF TEARS DECREASE?
.
Tear has an important function such as cleaning the eye surface contaminated by various factors such as wind, dust and smoke, and preventing irritation of the corneal surface. Thanks to our winking, tears spread throughout the eye surface, moisturizing this surface, almost acting as a shield against negative factors such as dust. But due to factors such as insufficient operation of the tear gland, little eye clipping, cold and dry air, wind, extremely hot, dry and air-conditioned ambient air in indoor spaces, the amount of tears decreases, as a result of which “dry eye” develops. Complaints of dry eyes are especially aggravated in people who work at the screen in closed spaces and drive for a long time.

IT CAN CAUSE VISION LOSS
.
Dry eyes develop with symptoms such as burning in the eyes, stinging, feeling of sand, redness and loss of vision. Eye health and diseases specialist Dr. reviews on advice that “Vision loss occurs due to dryness due to irregularities in the transparent layer of the eye, the formation of spots and scarring as a result of infection,” noting that vision loss can also develop when dry eyes are exacerbated. Vision loss caused by dry eyes can sometimes turn into a permanent state, adding: “Therefore, it is very important to treat dry eyes at an early stage. If there is a stinging, redness, sand sensation in the eye and blurred vision, patients should immediately consult eye doctors in Turkey for treatment.”

ARTIFICIAL TEAR DROP EFFECTIVE IN TREATMENT
.
Dry eye is a treatable disease, stating the following information: “the goal in treatment is to supplement the missing tear with artificial tear drops. In advanced cases, short-term cortisone drops or anti-inflammatory drops are used because an inflammatory reaction occurs in the eye.

HOW TO PROTECT FROM DRY EYES IN 5 STEPS

  1. Avoid the wind: the wind can vaporize tears on the surface of the eye, leading to dry eyes. So don’t forget to protect your eyes by using wide-rimmed glasses in windy weather.
    .
  2. Drink plenty of Water: Water, which makes up 60 percent of our body, is also very important for our eye health. Our tear production decreases when we get insufficient water. In order for your eyes to be hydrated enough, the water level in your body must be sufficient. Remember to drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
    .
  3. Adjust humidity in indoor environments: in indoor areas, the air is cleaned and heated by a closed system. This, in turn, can lead to a decrease in moisture in the air, resulting in dry eyes. Be careful to keep the humidity around 45 percent for your eye health.
    .
  4. Use artificial tear drops: moisten your eyes with artificial tear drops if your Turkey eye doctor recommends it.
    .
  5. Rest your eyes at the beginning of the screen: when using a computer, we blink less than we normally do. So much so that the number of cropping, which is 10-15 per minute, falls to 5-6 in front of the computer. This, in turn, increases evaporation from the surface of the eye. When this is accompanied by air-conditioned environment and dry air, the problem of drying in the eye accelerates. It will be useful to rest your eyes by closing them for 1-2 minutes per hour when you are on the screen.
