WHAT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THESE WHEN CHOOSING TOOTHPASTE
.
Turkey Medicals, Foreigner Medical Services warned about what to look out for when choosing toothpaste. Our member Turkey doctor who noted that the enamel structure of the teeth consists of crystals was said, “these crystals are called hydroxyapatite crystals. Bacteria that cause tooth decay disrupt the enamel layer of the tooth, causing hydroxyapatite crystals to dissolve. Fluorine binds to hydroxyapatite crystals, forming fluorapatite. This structure makes it difficult for bacteria to disrupt the structure of enamel. It is fluorine ion itself that strengthens the structure of teeth and prevents them from rotting,” was said.
Turkey Medicals explained what to look out for:
- Use fluorine-containing pastes: every individual should use fluorine-containing pastes, as they prevent tooth decay and allow initial caries to return. The only exceptions to this condition are children and individuals who are at risk of swallowing toothpaste while brushing their teeth.
. - Do you have dental sensitivity?: Below the enamel layer of the tooth is a layer of dentin containing channels. Dentin channels are covered by enamel in a healthy tooth. The dentin layer, which is exposed for various reasons, causes sensitivity with stimuli such as cold, hot, sour, sweet. Patients with sensitivity problems should choose the ones that relieve sensitivity when choosing toothpaste. Some ions in sensitizing pastes block the exposed dentin channels and prevent sensitivity.
. - Attention to the choice of paste in children: if children are given brushing training at an early age, it will become a habit in the following years. Given the way children learn, they should see their parents brushing their teeth for themselves to brush. So if you brush your teeth, your children will. Children can swallow toothpaste when brushing their teeth at an early age. For this reason, low-fluorine pastes should be used. Standard pastes can be switched when the danger of swallowing is eliminated.
. - Be careful to choose white-colored pastes: the detection of a problem in the gums by the patient is understood by bleeding when brushing. Colored pastes can hide the color of blood. As much as possible, white-colored pastes should be preferred.
. - Attention to whitening pastes: care should be taken to ensure that the particles in the Paste are of a type that does not scratch the surface of the tooth. Scratches on the surface of the tooth lead to future tooth coloring.”
