COVID-19: GET THE LAST OUTBREAK
A COVID-19 pandemic Review Panel on Wednesday discussed how the next outbreak should be handled and what should be done.
In the report prepared by independent experts on how to handle the outbreak, striking statements about who (World Health Organization) were also used.
The panel also focused on who’s late move to curb the corona virus, which emerged in late 2019. It was noted that the WHO should classify the outbreak as an international public health emergency much earlier than January 30, 2020.

A STRENGTHENED WHO
“Having a strengthened who is critical,” co-chair of the Panel and former prime minister of New Zealand, told reporters on the release of the report “COVID-19: Let It Be The Last pandemic.”
“We are calling for a new surveillance and warning system based on transparency and allowing the WHO to publish information immediately,” said, a former president of Liberia.

ALLOWED TO TURN INTO DISASTER
The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which emerged in late 2019 in China’s Central City of Wuhan, was allowed to turn into a catastrophic pandemic that killed more than 3.4 million people and devastated the world economy, the report said.
“Today, the situation we found in it could have been avoided,” noted that when faced with the danger of a pandemic, he delayed preparing and responding to problems.
The Panel said Chinese doctors reported unusual cases of pneumonia in December 2019 and the international health emergency declared on January 30 should have been declared much earlier, despite reports from The Who’s Taiwan Centers for Disease Control.
.
TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE FAR-REACHING
The committee also said The Who did not recommend travel restrictions because of the International Health Regulation, which must be renewed. “If travel restrictions had been introduced more quickly and more broadly, it would have seriously prevented rapid transmission of the disease, and today, we wouldn’t be in this situation,” Helen Clark said.
The panel also highlighted that it was a lost month before the pandemic was declared. It said steps could be taken to reduce and prevent the outbreak in February 2020.
.
GOVERNMENTS AND VACCINE MANUFACTURERS MUST COME TOGETHER
The panel made no specific accusation against WHO Director-General, whom the Trump administration had previously specifically targeted. However, to avoid political pressure, a WHO director-general should be limited to a single seven-year term, he said.
The report also said the WHO and the World Trade Organization should bring governments and drug makers together to reach an agreement on voluntary licensing and technology transfers to increase vaccine production.
