MOST CONTAGIOUS RESPIRATORY DISEASE, EXPERTS EXPLAIN

The Delta variant is one of the most contagious respiratory diseases ever seen, the director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said this week. The variant now accounts for more than 83 percent of cases in the U.S., and 97 percent of those admitted to the hospital for COVID symptoms are unvaccinated, he said.

The world is shaking with the Delta variant this time, as the pandemic is expected to end, the vaccination is expected to accelerate and return to normal. The CDC shared information about the virus while highlighting the contagion of the variant in a press release this week. The CDC explained that the reason the variant is so contagious is that infected people can carry up to 1,000 times more viruses in their nasal passages than those infected with the original strain.

CDC Director Dr. “The Delta variant is more aggressive and much more contagious than the strains that were previously in circulation,” told reporters Thursday. It’s one of the most contagious respiratory viruses we know of and I’ve seen in my 20-year career,” he said.

CDC director, “with cases increasing again and some hospitals filling their capacity in some areas, we need to come together as one nation at another important moment in the pandemic.”

53 PER CENT INCREASE IN ONE WEEK

The Delta variant has spread rapidly in the U.S. and now accounts for more than 83 percent of cases in the U.S. The seven-day average of new cases is now 37,674 new cases a day, up nearly 53 percent from last week. Hospitalizations rose 32 percent from last week to about 3,500 a day, and deaths rose 19 percent over the same time period to about 240 a day.

“This virus has no intention of leaving and continues to search for next vulnerable person to be infected,” said.

.
IT IS SPREADING RAPIDLY IN AREAS WITH LOW VACCINATION RATES

While the virus has established dominance in U.S. states with low vaccination rates, it continues to spread with low new case rates in counties with high vaccination rates.

Florida, Texas and Missouri, three USA states with low vaccination rates, account for 40 percent of all new cases nationwide, said a White House adviser to the President. Florida, in particular, accounts for 1 in 5 of all new cases in the U.S. alone for two weeks.

In hospitals across the country, 97 percent of people admitted with covid symptoms are unvaccinated, and 99.5 percent of all COVID deaths are unvaccinated.

“We are at another important moment in the pandemic, with cases increasing again and some hospitals’ capacities filling in some areas, we need to come together as one nation,” said.
