HOW IMPORTANT ARE BREAST IMPLANTS DURING TURKEY SURGERY?
- The breast consists largely of adipose tissue, mammary glands. It clings to the chest wall with pectoral muscles called pectorals. The breast has 15 – 20 lobes. These lobes are formed by the fusion of lobules, which are smaller structures. The mammary glands located in the lobules are connected to the nipple by ducts.
. - Lymph vessels carry lymph fluid that fights infection to the lymph nodes (glands) located around the collarbone under the armpit thanks to the white blood cells contained in it.
. - There are 3 hormones that play an active role in the growth, development and production of breast tissue in milk: estrogen, progesterone and prolactin.
. - Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, aging, medication use, hormonal changes and diseases cause the shape of the breast to change over time. In some women, for no reason, the breast may be larger than usual, small, saggy, or asymmetrical. In such cases, breast aesthetics is applied as a treatment method in order to give the breast a normal and aesthetic appearance.
. - In breast augmentation surgeries and breast lift surgeries where the breast volume is less than normal, the breast is brought to its ideal size by placing a silicone implant in a pocket created under the breast tissue. The choice of a silicone implant is made taking into account the expectations of the patient according to its volume, shape and surface characteristics. For more detailed information, you can check out our article, where a comparison of drop and round-shaped silicone implants is made.
. - To create a pocket under the breast tissue, an incision can be made from 3 different areas: the nipple, the underarm fold, the armpit. The size of the incisions is about 3-4 cm. All of them has advantages and disadvantages.
. - Another issue that needs to be decided along with the incision sites when planning breast surgery is the area where the implant will be placed. A silicone implant can be placed just below the breast tissue or just below the muscle tissue located under the breast tissue. A dual plan is often preferred in which part of the prosthesis is placed under muscle and part is placed under the breast tissue. When deciphering between these alternatives, the plastic surgeon considers many criteria, such as the volume of breast tissue, skin thickness, the structure of the muscles, the condition of the rib cage, etc.
