PAY ATTENTION TO THE TYPES OF BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer types are not the same, and knowing the type of breast cancer you have is important in planning your treatment. If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, your doctor will use your imaging reports and pathology reports to determine the characteristics of the detected tumor. The type of tumor detected in your pathology report, its characteristics and radiological findings are important in determining the options that can be applied in your treatment. Turkey Medicals medical park hospital complex member and Turkish General Surgery Specialist Operator Doctor gave information about the subject.

It is quite important from what part of the breast tissue breast cancer arises. This feature is important for predicting how the cancer will behave and determining the treatment.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE TYPES OF BREAST CANCER

Milk ducts:

It starts from the milk ducts, which are called ductus. Ductal carcinoma is the most common type of breast cancer. This type of cancer consists of the inner surface of a milk duct in the breast. Ductuses are ducts that carry milk made in lobules to the nipple. Ductal carcinoma can remain in the ducts as a non-invasive cancer (ductal carcinoma in situ) or exit the ducts (invasive ductal carcinoma).

Milk-producing glands (lobules):

The glands that produce milk are called lobules. The ducts that ensure the delivery of the produced milk to the nipple are called ductus. Lobular carcinoma is a type of cancer caused by glands that produce milk. When the cancer leaves the lobules, it is called invasive lobular carcinoma.

Connective tissue:

In rare cases, cancers caused by connective tissue located around these structures can also occur instead of the milk ducts or milk glands. Types of cancer that begin with connective tissue are called sarcomas. Examples of these types of cancer can be considered a phylloid tumor or angiosarcoma of vascular origin.
