BODRUM’S POPULATION HAS GROWN TO HALF A MILLION

After the full-closure was announced by President Erdogan leader, many citizens living in metropolitan cities flocked to the district to spend the 19-day ban in Bodrum sea view homes in Turkey beach. With the migration that started in the pandemic process, the population of Bodrum exceeded 500 thousand.

Thursday, April 29, 2021 before the curfew until 05:00, citizens living in major cities flocked to Bodrum, the tourist center, according to a circular issued by the interior ministry. The current population of 181 thousand exceeded 600 thousand when traffic came to a standstill in the district. A queue of vehicles for miles formed on the main arteries as traffic intensified.

Many airlines have also started making additional flights as demand for air tickets from citizens increases. Between 06.00 and 09.00 in the morning, it was learned that the number of planes that will land at Milas – Bodrum Airport  in Turkey has doubled.

7-24 police and gendarmerie teams will be at the beginning of their duties at the application points at the entrances to Muğla by road. At sea entrances, Coast Guard teams will continue to monitor both illegal crossings in the seas and as part of the Covid-19 epidemic measures.

EXPLANATION AFTER MIGRATION: THE ENVIRONMENT IS VERY DANGEROUS

The last two days have seen massive migration to coastal cities. This increased the risk of a Covid-19 explosion in coastal cities. Only in Bodrum, the population, which is 170 thousand, has endured 600 thousand. However, the bed capacity of hospitals in the city is 300. There are only 28 intensive care units in those hospitals. Managers are alarming on alert.

After 17 Days of full closure announcement, Marmaris, Datça and Fethiye districts of Muğla, especially Bodrum, were flooded by second homeowners and holidaymakers.Health officials stated that the total bed capacity in 4 hospitals, two of which are publicly owned in Bodrum, was 300 and the number of intensive care units was 28, and almost all of them were full. Only after Bodrum’s population had grown to 600 thousand in the last three days, local rulers began to issue warnings.

.
PLEASE COMPLY WITH MASK AND DISTANCE ALSO HYGIENE

Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, who is also a doctor, expressed the following:

Unfortunately, this application was not performed correctly. We had those who went to all the provinces and districts of Anatolia from our metropolitan cities. Muğla has had a significant share of this situation.

* Especially vehicles coming to Bodrum almost queued. From many different cities, especially Istanbul, they came here to spend the closing process in summer houses or private villas throughout Muğla.

* Unfortunately, this will return to us as negative within 7 to 14 days. It’s very likely that those who come will carry the virus. But it is not known if they are carriers at this time, as tests have not been carried out.

* If our new guests coming to Muğla region are very careful. The environment is very dangerous. It will also have a very negative impact on my health care system. In hospitals, there may be a possibility of sad situations.

* Our hope is that they will spend this period without coming into contact with others without going out too much in peace, knowing these dangers. We need to ensure that we all return to our cities in good health and that the country minimizes the very rising number of cases related to Covid.

.
IF IT WAS CALLED, IT WOULD BE A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN

Head of Muğla Medical Chamber, who said that the chain of errors started from the beginning, made statements to The Spokesman, “if you are going to close completely, you will close completely. There will be no complete shutdown as the drum announces three days in advance. They gave people the opportunity to emigrate for three days, and if it was called, it would be a complete shutdown,” he said.

.
MUĞLA HEALTH SYSTEM CANNOT HANDLE THIS BURDEN

Muğla bed capacity across 2,500, intensive care unit capacity 251 reminded Hawk, Bodrum Muğla province, Marmaris, Bodrum, Datca coastal towns such as Milas and said there was a large influx of:

* Our population grew from 1.1 million to 2 million. We are experiencing the same period in June 2020. We are in the most dangerous process since March 11, 2020.

* This can’t be what they call a complete shutdown. For example, I am a doctor at the workplace and I am an official at 55 workplaces, all of these 55 workplaces are open now, workers are everywhere, walking, traveling, moving with those who come from major cities.

* Both hospitals and intensive care units in Muğla province and districts currently say 70 percent, but there are also child and obstetric intensive care units in this, close to all intensive care beds related to Covid-19 are full.

.
AFTER 10 DAYS, THE SITUATION CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS

For three days, Bodrum, especially Marmaris, Datça and Fethiye, such as coastal provinces that indicate a large migration “metropolitan cities will start to spread the disease population here, 10 days later in the province of Muğla we can be in a major health crisis. In addition, vaccination work has been very slow and almost stopped. At this rate, we will continue to fight this epidemic in 2022 and 2023, let alone 2021. We are trying to celebrate Labor Day, but this holiday, that is, May 1, will be the disease of the worker, not the Labor Day,” he said.

.
HEAVY VEHICLE TRAFFIC AT FULL CLOSURE

Despite the complete closure in Bodrum today, there was heavy vehicle traffic on Cyprus martyrs Street and Emin Anter Boulevard in the city center.

Retired Prof. Dr. said:” 300 bed capacity and intensive care units in Bodrum with a population of 170 thousand were already not enough, those who knew the opportunity to close for three days came to Bodrum, but in fact their lives are even more in danger here, because if the Covid 19 outbreak shows a sudden increase, neither Bodrum nor Mugla’s Health Capacity does not remove it, as soon as those who enter Bodrum, they enter into relief, but the real danger is here.”

.
MAYOR WARNED

The headman of Bodrum’s Yalıkavak district, also noted that the population of the neighborhood has increased by more than 100 percent in three days, saying: “the population of our Yalıkavak district is 21 thousand, while it has grown to 55 thousand with the summer workers who came in three days. It looks like the Covid 19 outbreak will have an impact on our neighborhood. Please don’t leave your Bodrum homes, let’s follow the mask distance rules. Everything you do is for your own health in Turkey,” was warned.
