WHAT ARE THE SURGERIES THAT HAVE BECOME MORE OF A NECESSITY THAN AESTHETICS?

When we think of aesthetics, beauty comes to mind first. It is believed that aesthetic surgeries are performed only to become beautiful. However, aesthetic surgery offers surgical solutions to many health problems. Aesthetic and functional treatment of some congenital or later ailments is performed by the branch of aesthetic surgery. Turkey Medicals member and JCI Istanbul hospital clinic Plastic Surgery Specialist Surgeon Dr. gave information about the subject.

The full name of the medical branch, which is briefly referred to as aesthetic surgery is:

– Aesthetic

– Plastic

– Reconstructive

This simply means that they are beautifying, remaking or correcting. Many are congenital or have accidents, cancer, etc. we are able to solve the ailments that occur after such misfortunes. Examples of these are cleft palate and lip, hand-toe finger redundancy or deficiencies, scars formed after burns. In addition, breathing difficulties, weight problems, skin problems related to smoking, postpartum problems, diseases related to caffeine consumption can be treated by plastic surgery.

Surgeon Doctor added, “There are operations that look like some aesthetic surgery, but are absolutely necessary not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in terms of function. Here, these surgeries have become more of a necessity than aesthetics due to the serious discomfort they create in the person.”

These disorders are as follows;

Breast reduction surgery

When women with large breasts express their discomfort from this condition and want to have surgery, many people, especially their family, oppose it. However, it is so difficult to live with a big breast. Shoulder and even back, low back pain, hernia formation over time, bad smell and various infections that occur under the breast cause difficulties such as difficulty finding clothes, difficulty playing sports. A large breast problem is a genetic condition.

There must be someone with big tits in the family. Gaining weight increases breast size. Some doctors of medical specialties (physical therapy, orthopedics, dermatology, neurosurgery, etc.) they refer their patients to plastic surgeons to solve major breast-related problems. This problem is eliminated with breast reduction surgery.

Upper eyelid surgery

If we exclude genetically premature sagging, a very common ailment in society, mostly after the age of 40, is sagging of the upper eyelid. The most important reason is the downward displacement of the eyebrows or lid tissues as a result of the constant pressure of gravity. Aside from the visual discomfort it causes, narrowing the visual field, rapid fatigue of the eyes, and further increase in fatigue towards evening impair a person’s quality of life. This problem can be easily solved with the help of upper eyelid aesthetics performed with local anesthesia. Immediately after the operation, the patient notices that the visual field has expanded and the eye fatigue has gone away. Moreover, most of them have swelling and bruises that are in surgery.

Deviation of the septum in combination with the nasal arch

The curvature of the wall separating the nostrils and called the septum is called septum deviation. Curvatures in this wall lead to difficulty breathing. In cases where there are no deformities in the nose that require aesthetics, only the septum surgery solves the problem, while in most cases the septum deviation occurs together with the shape problem such as the nasal arch. A wall operation that will be performed without correcting the curvature and disfigurement of the nose will not allow a person to breathe easily. In this case, the rhinoplasty necessarily becomes mandatory.

Deformities in people who gain excess weight or give birth a lot

Excessive weight gain and multiple births lead to an expansion of the skin of the body. When these pounds are lost or the births are over, the skin tries to pull itself together, but there is some loss of elasticity, whether it wants to or not. In this case, sagging of the skin is observed. These sagging visually bothers the person as well as prevents daily movements and sports activities due to the weight effect and being separate from the muscle. Not to mention that it creates problems with hygiene. The only remedy in this case is the removal of these excess skins by surgery. Especially as a result of skin stretching, which we often see on the abdominal skin, we can solve sagging by tummy tuck surgery. In addition, skin sagging on the arms, legs and back is also corrected by surgery.
.

Turkey Medicals – as a result, function correction surgeries, which become mandatory due to the problems experienced in daily life and need to be corrected aesthetically, are often performed by Istanbul plastic surgeons and thus make people’s daily lives more comfortable.
