WHAT IS TRANSFONTANEL ULTRASOUND IN TURKEY JCI HOSPITALS?

Turkey Medicals member and Department of Interventional Radiology Doctor, tells us that Transfontanel ultrasound is a radiation-free and painless ultrasound technique that allows you to study the brain structure of a newborn baby in Istanbul and Antalya Turkey. It is very important to study the brain structures of the baby during the neonatal period. It is also equally important to conduct radiation-free methods of this examination.

.
HOW IS TRANSFONTANEL ULTRASOUND PERFORMED?

Due to the opening of the pinwheel in newborn babies, an examination with transfontanel ultrasound can be performed. The results of the ultrasound procedure performed by the specialist radiologist are reported and clear results can be revealed for the neonatal pediatrician.

.
HOW LONG CAN THAT BE DONE?

Usually, neonatal pediatricians decide when transfontanel ultrasound should be performed. It is an examination method that can be applied to almost every patient. Transfontanel ultrasound is resorted to in cases where there is a risk of cerebral hemorrhage and in case of premature birth, the baby’s brain structures are incomplete or have not been completed. Transfontanel may not be administered, especially in infants over the age of 18 months who have a closed fontanel opening.

Since it is not possible for a newborn baby in Turkey, to stand still while taking MK and tomography, this operation is performed using ultrasound. In addition, tomography is not preferred because it will also cause the baby to receive radiation. A radiologist will take the best treatment or measure for the child by writing the information the pediatrician needs in his report with a report that he will prepare.

.
WHAT EVALUATIONS CAN BE DONE WITH TRANSFONTANEL ULTRASOUND?

– Determination of infant brain damage and structural abnormalities,

– Evaluation of infant brain development,

– Genetic anomalies in the baby,

– Hydrocephalus in the baby,

– Cerebrovascular accident and cerebral hemorrhage.
