BABY BOTTLES USED FOR FEEDING BABIES ARE DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE SUBSTANCES THEY CONTAIN… SO WHAT SHOULD PARENTS PAY ATTENTION TO DO?

Plastic products are now involved in all spheres of our lives. We come across plastic in every product, from kitchen utensils to food packaging, from white goods to deodorants and toothpastes. The fact that plastics are in our lives to this extent poses a risk to our health.

We have examined in quite detail in our news below how the water we drink turns into poison in plastic bottles and water ‘ damacanas ‘ in Turkey.

Turkey Medicals, “We asked the experts about the issue of safe water”.

Turkish scientists have pointed out the harms of plastics with a study that will also be a parents ‘ nightmare this time. According to experts, some plastic bottles made for the purpose of giving babies a drink of food and milk emit a danger due to the substances they contain.

A study conducted in Turkey examined the number of plastic particles released by bottles heated and shaken when polypropylene, a type of plastic, was used. Scientists have revealed that about 4 million microplastic particles are mixed into every 1 liter of water from baby bottles. The most noteworthy point of the study results is that this substance is used in more than 70 percent of bottles on the market…

.
ABOUT 60 PERCENT OF MICROPLASTICS ARE MADE OF POLYPROPYLENE

Polypropylene is widely used for many purposes such as bottling, packaging, and so on.Polypropylene is used in many areas, from chairs to disposable drip irrigation pipes, from sachets to beverage packaging. So this type of plastic corresponds to about 20 percent of global plastic production, and it is also used intensively in baby care products.

Based on the data we obtained from the field, polypropylene has the property of breaking down more quickly than other types of plastics. This is also a partial answer to why it emits so many microplastics when used in packaging or baby care products. In another previous study, it was explained that up to 60 percent of the microplastics detected in human feces are polypropylene-type plastics.

.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE PLASTIC IN THE MOUTHPIECES OF BABY BOTTLES!

People generally these products are healthy, hygienic and chemical emitted during production by using concepts such as through participating in both content marketing microplastic creates a serious risk, and this situation was true for plastic and rubber used in the nozzles of the bottles.

There is also a natural material made of plastic rubber, but do you have a bottle in which it is used, if there is one, you need to look at it for the width and price of its use. I don’t think that low-income families have much chance to use bottles with glass bottles and bottles with mouthpieces made of natural rubber or non-plastic harmless material, unfortunately, that there is an unfair situation.

To emphasis on this issue is really important… That is plastic, which is introduced into all areas of life just because it is cheap, also causes the alternatives offered to their places to be exorbitantly priced when the harms begin to appear. Thus, the children of low-income families have to use bottles that are of worse quality and produced in poor conditions.

.
SO WHAT HARM CAN BOTTLES WITH POOR QUALITY CAUSE TO BABIES?

In particular, chemicals such as BPA, BPS and phthalates (harmful plastics) pose a serious health risk to the health of both mother and baby.

The problems that may arise as follows:

It has been revealed by many studies that these chemicals cause growth disorders, hyperactivity and adolescent adversity in children, and even mental retardation. For this reason, the use of silicone, natural rubber and wood products that do not contain chemicals that pose a health risk in them is becoming more common in baby products every day. But here, too, the high prices of these products significantly prevent them from becoming widespread.

.
GLASS AND METAL BOTTLES DO NOT CONTAIN CHEMICALS

It is known that the water in a glass bottle is slightly less harmful than the water in a plastic bottle. Can the same be true for glass bottles?

Glass and metal bottles, which are alternatives to plastic, are not only advantageous in the sense of not containing chemicals. At the same time, there is no risk of releasing microplastics in the hygiene process carried out by boiling.

However, it is necessary to pay attention that the kettle used during the heating of water is not plastic, and if the drying process is being carried out, the cloth used for it should not be made of polyester, synthetic or processed fabrics. Again, the quality of the water used to make the liquid food placed in the bottle is also very important. Because it is an illusion to think that pet bottles or packaged water that are used as a substitute for tap water that is avoided because it is unhealthy is healthy.

An important warning for glass bottles:

Even when you expose plastic bottles to sunlight for a while, it causes deterioration. This condition will affect the quality of the liquid in bottles or water bottles with water or baby food in them, as well as cause the acceleration of the formation of bacteria in the water or baby food. Layers of bacteria that are difficult to see with the eye occur. This is also quite harmful for human health. Glasses can be healthier than plastic. But still a glass bottle with water in it should also not be exposed to sunlight.

.
BABIES HAVE MICROPLASTICS EVEN WHEN THEY ARE IN THE WOMB

We know that microplastics is now a rather threatening condition for human health. What diseases can this condition be a harbinger of?

The health risks posed by microplastics is increasing day by day. Especially depending on the size, micro-and nano-plastics that you could overcome barriers of all kinds of cellular and many studies have been published, and continues to be same results.

.
PARENTS AND PROSPECTIVE PARENTS BEWARE!

In a study, microplastic fragments were found in the placenta, that is, in the tissue that develops in the uterus during pregnancy. Another study conducted later found that these plastics can be transferred to the baby through a cord. In studies of the effect of these transferred plastics, it has been proven that these plastics can accumulate in various organs, and those that reach the brain from them can lead to behavioral disorders based on a study conducted on fish.

In the latest study on microplastics, it was found that microplastics are found in sea, rock and lake salt produced in 16 countries.

We summarized the issue with a study conducted in Turkey:

In a study conducted, microplastics were found in table salt samples of 16 brands on the market. The study also found that microplastics were found in samples taken from subjects living in different countries. The effects of microplastics on living things, what these effects are, what systems and organs are affected, as a result of which the prediction of possible situations in the human body is now even faster…

HERE ARE 4 QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE DONE IN BOTTLE FEEDING

We now know that plastic baby bottles are harmful to baby’s health. Preference should be given to good-quality glass bottles and natural products that do not contain chemicals. So, what should not be done with bottle feeding?

.
HOW OFTEN AND HOW SHOULD BOTTLE FEEDING BE?

According to the baby’s month, is he/she taking breast milk, food, or is he feeding on both? It depends on the answers to such questions. In the first weeks, babies consume 60-90 milliliters of food every 3 hours, and at the end of the first month-about 180-240 milliliters of food.

.
WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AT THE FEEDING STAGE?

Caution should be exercised against the danger of glass bottles breaking. To prevent reflux, the baby should be fed with his head 45 degrees above. The food should be prepared according to the scale setting in the box, and its temperature should also be checked by dripping it on the wrist.

.
THE FEEDING IS OVER, BUT HOW SHOULD THE BOTTLE BE CLEANED?

Milk and food waste after feeding needs to be rinsed under tap water with the help of a baby bottle brush. It is also worthwhile to designate a separate bottle pot for sterilizing the bottle before feeding. When the water starts to boil, it is also necessary to separate all the parts of the bottle and boil it in boiling water for 5 minutes. Then it can be removed from boiling water with the help of a tongs and left to dry

It is a well-known fact that the tip of the bottle used is also important. What should I pay attention to in this regard?

The tip of the bottle must necessarily correspond to the structure of the baby’s palate. The most important thing is that the bottle hole should be such that when the bottle is turned upside down, it flows at a rate of one drop per second. If it flows little, the baby may not be fed enough. Babies can get tired and angry and stop feeding. If it flows too much, the food can escape into the lungs. In this situation parents need to be very careful.
