ANNUAL FOOD PRICE GROWTH OF 35.7 PER CENT
Basic food prices rose 4.2 percent month-on-month and 35.7 percent year-on-year in July, according to research by KAMU-AR, the R & D unit of the United Public-Business Confederation Half of the 8.45 per cent hike in public employees ‘pay and pensioners’ pensions for the second half of the year went to a rise in food prices in July.

MONTHLY PRICE INCREASE

OIL PRICES UP 5 PERCENT IN JULY
In July 2021, bread, flour, bulgur prices increased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month due to the rise in bulgur prices.
Meat and fish Group prices increased by 2.6 percent due to the rise in chicken meat prices, while milk and dairy products and egg Group prices increased by 3.4 percent in July.
The upward trend in oil prices, which began in the last months of last year, continued in July and an increase of 5.5 percent was observed.
In July, when fruit prices rose by 8.8 percent, vegetable prices rose by 11.7 percent compared to the previous month.
In July, when pulses prices rose by 11.5 percent due to the increase in chickpeas and lentils, prices for other processed foods, consisting of tomato paste, olives, honey, tea, salt and similar foodstuffs, rose by 0.2 percent.
June July paid 4.2 percent more than June this year to buy a food basket made up of 76 food items selected according to current food consumption habits.

FIRST SEVEN-MONTH CHANGE
January July saw a 19.8 percent increase in food prices. In the first seven months of the year, bread, bulgur, flour and pasta prices increased by 8.8 percent, meat and fish prices increased by 26.1 percent in milk, dairy products and egg prices by 20.4 percent. Oil prices rose by 23.3 percent.
During this period, a 70 percent increase in fruit prices and a 0.5 percent decrease in vegetable prices were recorded. Pulses prices rose by 9 percent and other processed food prices by 8.3 percent.

ANNUAL CHANGE
Food prices have increased by 35.7 percent annually (compared to July 2020). In July this year, compared to July last year, bread, flour, bulgur, pasta prices increased by 24.8 percent, meat-fish prices increased by 17.8 percent, milk and dairy products and eggs increased by 35.1 percent.
Compared with a year ago, oil prices rose 53.9 percent. Fruit prices rose 69.1 percent and vegetable prices rose 67.2 percent. Pulses prices have risen 29.2 percent in the past year, while other food prices have risen 15.4 percent.
According to the 12-month averages calculated by comparing the average prices of the products included in the basket with the average prices in the previous 12-month period, food prices also increased by 30.7 percent.
According to annual averages, bread, flour, bulgur, pasta 18.4 cent in prices, prices 17.7 percent meat and fish, milk, dairy products, and egg prices 28.5 percent in oil prices 39.7 percent and 43.6 percent fruit prices, vegetable prices of 67.1 per cent, the prices of pulses 25.2 percent, the prices of other food items rose at a rate of 9.9 per cent.
